The 50k topographic maps are the best South Africa offers in the terms of details.
Farm names and boundaries, 20m contour lines, streams,  powerlines,  tracks and foothpaths, rocks on the seashore and dunes in the deserts  are just some of the details represented in over 2000 maps covering the territory.

The challenge was: is it really possible to compile 30Gbs of digital maps into a simple, easy to use set?
2 DVDs is the result we are proud of. By virtue of this achievement MadMappers is now able to offer the SA 50k mapset at a cost lower than anyone had hoped for.

In line with international trends, the 15'x15' maps have been reprojected (geographic or lat/lon projection) and collar cropped for seamless mosaicking (by OziExplorer MadMerge Utility or by Global Mapper). Except for a few, all maps are in WGS84 datum and include a OziExplorer calibration file. In practice all it is required is to place the DVD into your DVD drive and load a map. As simple as that.
